Portrait of Aubrey McMahan's face

As Director of Communications for ATI, Aubrey coordinates with the other ATI divisions and programs to make sure that they are properly supported with communications materials and that ATI’s communications initiatives and messaging are consistent and further the organization’s mission. A volunteer herself, she oversees on average six communications volunteer “employees,” contractors, and a multitude of writing/research volunteers on-call to provide various communication products and services. Aubrey’s interest in human trafficking stems from a college internship with the U.S. embassy in Austria, where she helped coordinate the Vienna Trafficking-in-Persons Conference attended by U.S. State Department and foreign diplomats. After graduating from Grand Valley State University with a bachelor’s in international relations and minors in German and Middle Eastern studies, she moved from Michigan to northern Virginia to pursue a career with the Federal government. She discovered ATI when it was seeking volunteers to help run its first Youth Cares Conference (now ATC), and has been volunteering with the organization ever since. When not providing communications support for ATI, Aubrey is invested in her full-time job as a civil servant, and enjoys spending her free time with her boyfriend going on outdoor adventures or staying in and being entertained by their pet rabbit.
