Aashna Sawhney

Aashna Sawhney, a current freshman at Duke University and the President of Just Ask’s Student Advisory Council, joined the organization three years ago after learning about the prevalence of human trafficking in her community.

She has been able to raise awareness through her position by organizing documentary screenings, trivia games, giving a Ted Talk at her high school, speaking on a panel with her local government, and helping develop testimony for a congressional hearing. She hopes to continue to raise awareness about this issue and encourages young people to get involved in whatever way they can, whether it is through volunteering for Just Ask or sharing information about this problem on social media.

Aashna is also passionate about environmental science and policy and enjoys watching nature documentaries, hiking, and spending time with her friends in her free time.
