Marissa from Ohio

Marissa is currently a junior in college, majoring in criminal justice and communication studies. She is a member of the American Criminal Justice Association and Humanitarians Fellows Program at her university. Marissa is a current member of the Student Advisory Council and works with Eyes Up Appalachia, a human trafficking awareness and prevention organization in her area.

She has worked to bring awareness in her community and campus through various campaigns such as her Be A Safe Friend, Sister, and Brother campaign through Eyes Up Appalachia. She brings in guest speakers to her campus and believes that with the Student Advisory Council she can continue implementing awareness and preventive methods, and further support survivors outside of her community.  

In her free time, Marissa participates in STUNT the Sport for her university, enjoys reading poetry and spending time with friends, family, and her Golden Retriever!
